Mike Mihalas, LCSW offers individual psychotherapy to adults and teens. He works to promote mental wellness and treat conditions that contribute to unwanted thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationship patterns. In therapy you will find new ways to cope and manage distress, as well as explore what may be happening unconsciously in your psyche. Mike Mihalas has been a practicing therapist since 2011 and received his graduate degree from the University of Southern California's School of Social Work. He is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and completed two years of post-graduate supervised training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Mike Mihalas specializes in long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy and is accepting new clients interested in 2x / week sessions.

Working Together

We will focus on increasing self understanding, managing upsetting or difficult thoughts and emotions, and exploring what is observable on a surface level as well as what may be happening unconsciously that perpetuates unwanted patterns, self-sabotage or troubling issues. This approach to therapy is helpful for individuals looking to develop a deeper understanding of oneself or for those who have had therapy before, but wanted more meaning and longer lasting change.

Common therapy goals with Mike Mihalas: symptom relief, improved insight, greater personal agency, a strong and cohesive sense of self, higher self-esteem, improved boundaries, becoming unstuck, recognizing and handling emotions, access to joy, finding purpose, freedom to feel pleasure and peace, and a capacity for love, work, and mature dependence.

You can expect to speak freely in a non-judgemental setting without being told what to do. Sessions are 45 minutes and you determine the pace and depth of our conversation. Please note my dog Luke attends sessions.
